A nice start to the week, it was a pleasure to work on this oak floor dating back to the 17th century. The floor needed some renovation, it was decided not to sand the floor as this would remove years of patina and aged contours of the boards. The worst of the damage I cut out and spliced in sections of new oak which were then stained to try and match the rest of the floor. The boards were scrubbed and washed by hand, lightly abraded and a coat of hard wax oil applied. The floor was brought to life whilst still retaining all of its hundreds of years of character!
